Two weeks after the race in Valencia where our Koiranen GP drivers won a double podium spot, the team headed to Silverstone at the weekend for the third round of GP3 Series.
Silverstone was victim to the British changeable weather with alternating rain showers and glimpses of sunshine for most of the week. On the friday afternoon, the tracks were very wet for the Free Practice yet former Koiranen GP driver Carlos Sainz Jr set the best time of the day.
Surprisingly blue skies prevailed on Saturday for the qualifiers giving drivers a better start. 4 minutes from the end of the session, with the third set of tyres, Kevin Korjus claimed pole position for the afternoon race by setting a time of 1:46:360 on his last lap.
Kevin Korjus achieved P2 at Silverstone and is now 2nd in Drivers Championship!
Aaro Vainio finished P11 and an impressive Patrick Kujala showed his skills qualifying P15 on 27 drivers.
The start of the afternoon race saw Jack Harvey take the lead from Kevin Korjus .
On lap 3, Patrick Kujala crashed violently as he attempted to overtake the Italian Davide Fumanelli, flying and rollin over the circuit several times. A terrifying spectacle for all watching. Thankfully Patrick got out, shocked but fine and was declared fit for Race 2.

At the chequered flag, Kevin Korjus was P2 and Aaro Vainio P11. Kevin Korjus is now second in the Drivers’ championship, 6 points from Cypriot, Tio Ellinas and Koiranen GP is second in the Team Championships, 24 points from ART Grand Prix.
The Co-owner of the Koiranen GP3 team said “We are second in the team and driver championship. For us, this being our first season in GP3, it is better than we ever hoped for.”
Go Team Koiranen!! Keep up the good pace!!
